What cake flavors and fillings
can I choose from?
It's really up to you. We have several options
listed on our website, but we can always try to accommodate
something special too. What do you have the flavor for?
Can I have different cake
flavors on different tiers?
Yes, you may have different flavors for the different tiers.
There is no extra cost as a whole, however, each cake will
be priced per serving at its established rate.
What is torting?
Torting is when each 2" high cake is split horizontally
and additional filling is placed within the layers. This results
in four 1" high layers of cake and three layers of filling
in the tier.
What is fondant?
Fondant is a sugarpaste frosting that is extremely smooth,
and produces the rounded edges on a cake. Fondant is draped
over the cake and smoothed over the top and sides for a seamless,
professional finish.
How much is it to rent a
fountain for under a cake?
A deposit is held for fountain usage, however there is no
rental cost. The deposit is refunded upon return of the fountain
and other borrowed items such as separator plates and columns.
How far in advance should
I order my wedding cake?
Although a cake can be ordered with just two weeks notice,
it is best to reserve your date and secure the design several
months in advance. We will never take more cakes than I can
accommodate in a weekend, so booking early will ensure services
are available.
Do you freeze your cakes?
We do not freeze cakes; however, you may choose to freeze
the top layer of your cake for your first anniversary.
How do I freeze the top layer
so it is still good after a year?
1. Freeze your cake for two to four hours with no covering.
2. Securely wrap the cake in plastic wrap. Ensure your
wrapping is air tight, covering several times if necessary.
3. Place the wrapped cake in a large freezer bag, preferably
a vacuum sealed bag. If one is not available, ensure all
of the air that is in the bag is removed before sealing
it.
4. Place the cake in the freezer.
5. Take the cake out of the freezer about two days before
you want to serve it. Unwrap the cake and let it thaw in
the refrigerator, in a cake keeper.
You will want to keep it covered to ensure freshness. Enjoy!
How much cake do I need
to serve?
As a general rule, if you are serving a dinner with your cake,
and the cake is served at a later time, cake for 90 percent
of your guests should suffice. However, if you are not serving
a meal at your reception, you should be sure to have enough
cake for every guest.
Can I have cream cheese
frosting on my wedding cake?
I would suggest having a cream cheese filling in a pumpkin
spice or carrot cake wedding cake and opting for a buttercream
or fondant covering. As the cream cheese frosting has a high
content of butter with the cream cheese, it does not make
for a stable frosting for a cake that will sit out for several
hours, especially in the summertime.
What is a groom's cake?
The groom's cake of today is not the groom's cake of yesterday.
A Southern tradition called for a groom's cake to be a fruit
cake, of which pieces are taken home by unmarried female guests
and placed under their pillow at night. That night they would
dream of their future husbands. Today's groom's cake is representation
of the groom, capturing the essence of his career, hobby,
or a favorite past time. Groom's cakes can also be a chocolate
confection to offer a contrast to the white or ivory wedding
cake. Some are adorned with strawberries and glaze, some are
shaped like a tuxedo bust, some like a fish, a poker table,
or a favorite car. The groom's cake is often created as a
surprise for the groom, ordered either for the rehearsal dinner
or to be served along side the wedding cake. Other times the
groom takes delight in creating his own special masterpiece
for the special day.
